About Us
Horned Lizard Studios was formerly known as Penny Creek Studios. Penny Creek Studios was built in 1997 by John Stinson but was sold to Brad Graves in 2014. After purchasing Penny Creek Studios, Brad hired a team of engineers to completely remodel the studio. This is truly one of the most unique studios in Austin!
Amenities
Our amenities include a lounge and kitchen area for clients to hang out. We also provide a grill and a smoker to provide our clients with a true, Texas recording experience. We provide homemade BBQ to our clients and all the coffee they can drink from our Jura coffee machine.
Location
We are located near the Arboretum in North Austin. Our facilities back up to a greenbelt with several miles of hiking trails. Clients can seek inspiration in the beautiful woods of the Texas Hill Country. We are also located near a wide variety of eateries.
Our Rooms
Control Room
Our control room is equipped with a 1970's Trident Fleximix Console. The soffits house Neumann KH-310 monitors and stereo 11" Focal CMS Subwoofers. The control room is designed to provide a clean and crisp working environment.
Live Room
Every square inch of our live room was meticulously designed and built by audio engineers in the Austin area. With its 18' high ceilings and acoustic treatment, it is a spacious and warm sounding room.
Iso Booths A and B
We also have 2 isolation booths perfectly designed for mic'ing amplifiers and tracking vocals. The booths are a perfect balance of acoustic absorption and diffusion.
